Luxury Car Lexus to enter India in 2017
Good news for luxury car lovers in India – Lexus, the luxury brand from the house of Toyota, is set to enter India in early 2017. The car maker initially plans to launch 3 models -Â RX 450h (hybrid SUV), LX 450d/LX 570 SUVs, and the ES 300h sedan. It is expected that these cars will be first launched in Mumbai and New Delhi and then expand to the other parts of India by establishing a dedicated sales network.
History of Lexus
The origin of the Lexus Cars is quite an interesting history of the Japanese car maker’s dedication to R&D and thorough market research. When Toyota sensed an opening in the US luxury car market, they undertook a detailed project of understanding their competition at that time in the 90s – 5  series BMW and E-Class Mercedes – and offering an alternative that surpassed their capabilities. Toyota also made a conscious decision to market Lexus as a completely new luxury car brand and sold them from exclusive outlets so as to not be weighed down by the budget car tag of Toyota. Recently, in India, Maruti Suzuki, has tried to ape this tactic of Lexus by launching the Nexa line of dealership to sell their premium models such as Baleno and S Cross.
The Lexus brand has been defined as an aspirational luxury car brand that targets brand conscious consumers that also demand performance and value for money. Lexus is the largest selling luxury car brand in the USA and is renowned for their relentless pursuit of perfection, which of course is the brand’s tagline.
